Tanzania: “Wanawake wa Ufalme” Microfinancing Group

Tanzania: “Wanawake wa Ufalme” Microfinancing Group

ALARM Tanzania provided training and guidance to the “Wanawake wa Ufalme” (“Women of the Kingdom”) microfinancing group. Traditionally, conventional financial institutions don’t serve low-income individuals. ALARM Tanzania provides financial services and support to these individuals who seek to undertake businesses by using loans from the microfinancing group. One of the group members, through an ALARM sponsorship, attended the Food Processing and Preservation Skills course at the Small Industries Development Organization. This course covered food preservation and food hygiene. After completing this course, the group started to produce and sell peanut butter and were able to sell their product at a trade show. By investing in the food processing and preservation course, this group was able to increase their income-generating activities
