DR Congo: The Brenda Tailoring School Exams & Graduation

DR Congo: The Brenda Tailoring School Exams & Graduation

On October 26th, 224 people gathered together to celebrate the 69 Brenda Tailoring School graduates! These students have successfully passed their final state exams and are prepared to begin their journey as future entrepreneurs and tailors!

This 9-month program equips and trains young adults to become future tailors and business owners and after completing this program, each student receives a sewing machine and sewing kit which allows them to get started in their careers. Prior to starting the program, ALARM assesses the participants with a pre-evaluation which allows the staff to gauge the participants and how to adequately train them. In May, these students applied what they had learned and were able to sew masks and distribute them to the children in the prison.

We are so proud of these participants and the dedication they have showed over the last year as they have completed their schooling in the midst of the global pandemic.
