Burundi: General Pastoral and Women’s Leadership Training – Mwaro Province
March 11th (2021)
ALARM Burundi held a General Pastoral and Women Leadership Training in 3 separate locations in the month of March. The goal of this training was to equip and train church leaders in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, mediation, and other ministry skills to be used to address the needs within their communities. In total, 220 participants attended these trainings. As these leaders attended the ALARM training, they were educated, equipped, and empowered.
95 participants attended the training in Mwaro Province. As ALARM worked alongside these leaders, a few key challenges were identified. These church leaders expressed a fear of working in groups, a lack of vision, a lack of education, a lack of spiritual transformation, and a lack of training. As these leaders were trained, they committed to being role models of servant leadership in their respective churches and communities. These leaders also committed to training other leaders to own their role as leaders and peacebuilders. Together they will teach, sensitize, and mobilize members of their communities to work together to develop and transform communities.
