The story of Alice and Emmanuel is a story of reconciliation; former enemies made friends. ALARM Rwanda has guided Alice in her trauma healing and forgiveness process and because of her commitment to reconciliation, she is now able to testify to the power of forgiveness; she is healed, reconciled, and made new. ALARM Rwanda walked with Emmanuel through his self-forgiveness and reconciliation process; he is now a witness of grace, mercy, and freedom. Together, the stories of Alice and Emmanuel are bringing hope and healing to their community. Together, Alice and Emmanuel have started a house rehabilitation project where former enemies can be made friends; where houses are built for both victims and perpetrators; where a community of people can come together to live, to work, to pray, and to live free and reconciled. Alice recently lost her husband and the house where she and her 5 children live has become so worn down that it has forced them to become internally displaced. Emmanuel and his family recently lost their home in a storm and have since moved into an old small house. Through the support of partners and friends, ALARM Rwanda came alongside both Alice and Emmanuel to rehabilitate their homes. The rehabilitation process was successful and because of these efforts, both Alice and Emmanuel’s families have a place to live comfortably.
