The Psychosocial Support for Traumatized and Persecuted Pastors in Zanzibar Island project was implemented to holistically enhance the psychological well-being of religiously traumatized and persecuted pastors in Zanzibar. Through the trainings, this project gave 30 pastors a chance at having control over their lives again through safety, acknowledgement, and reconnection. These 15 pastor couples were trained in knowledge and skills in how to offer counselling services to other pastors who are vulnerable to religious persecution.
As these participants went through sessions that covered topics including trauma healing, conflict transformation, forgiveness, reconciliation, and counseling, they were given the tools to overcome their own trauma along with the tools to walk others through a journey similar to their own. 10 of the pastor couples attended counseling sessions and experienced relief through forgiveness and love.
